Gracie Jiu-Jitsu For Self-Defense

I firmly believe that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self defense training can make the student, fighter or competitor more technically proficient in all situations. Many professional fighters and Mixed Martial Arts competitors who fail to master such a basic position as standing up in base find their careers cut short when their stamina and strength cannot withstand the ravages of time. Yet Jiu-Jitsu practitioners who have a solid self defense background are still capable of defending themselves well into their 60’s and beyond.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self defense is for children, women and adults of all ages who enjoy being competitive and want an exciting and challenging cardiovascular workout that empowers them in everyday life. At Oregon Martial Arts Academy, my partner, Sean Haley and I won’t award a blue belt without the student first being introduced to a certain number of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self defense positions. The act of learning to defend yourself and capitalize on your opponent’s mistakes is the best approach to meaningful advancement in this sublime martial art.
